Encryption Licenses

ExeShield uses licenses, which are gateways into your program. Using licenses, you control how your application's security will function in the hands of your potential and existing customers.

Both versions of ExeShield allow you to create licenses for an unlimited number of applications. Once you purchase ExeShield, there is no limit to the number of your own software applications that you can protect. Only the number of types of licenses that you can create per application is restricted (to 2) in the Standard Version.

For example, a typical xx-day trial uses two licenses, which you can create with ExeShield Standard. For a 15-day trial, you need to create the following two licenses:

1) Your 15-day License
2) Your Registered License

When someone wants to evaluate your software (or you make it available for download), you issue your software protected with the 15-day license. (the number of days for your trial is up to you; 15 days is used here as an example).

Then, when a customer purchases your product, you send them a key from the Registered License.

If you want to create more than the 2 types of licenses provided with the Standard Edition, then ExeShield Pro is for you.

Additional license options and features provided with ExeShield Pro:

  • Execution license - set your program to expire after the number of executions you specify.
  • Extended license - extend your trial license for an additional number of days, for example when a potential customer's trial runs out and you want to give them a few more days
of evaluation time, but you don't want to re-issue a new trial license for a full xx-days.

  • ExeShield Pro also allows you to generate and distribute actual license files, rather than text-based license keys. A more secure method of protecting your software, license files (using RSA encryption), bypass the need to send your customers a key to enter into your program's startup screen in order to unlock your software. They need the actual physical license file that you have created for them with ExeShield Pro.
